The following is the Extract of
Proceedings of the State Council held on
the 2'Hh March, 1954.
1. Mr. K. R. Pradhan moved a
vote of thanks to the President, Mr.
Lall, for having steered the first elected
Council of the State from its inception
through its first three s-ssions. He made
reference to the demand of the people
for association with Government and
said that the President had managed
affairs with strict impartiality.
2. Mr. Sonam Tsering said that
at first the people had viewed the Pre-
sident's arrival with certain misgivings
but these had been dissipated by the
sense of statesmanship shown under the
guidance of the Ruler
3. Mr. Densapa said that Mr. Lall
had arrivid at a time of un/est but
that peace was quickly restored. The
State's revenues had been raised from
about Rs. 7-5 lakhs in 1943 49 to about
lis 39-2 lakhs in 1954"-55 and the peo-
ple of Sikkim could now be proud of
the fact.
