GRANT TO VEDANTA ASHRAM

Darjee-ling, April 6
The Government of West Bengal in
the Tribal Welfare Department 'ha3
sanctioned the payment of lis 2,500/-
to the RamUrisima Vedanta Ashram,
Darjeeling, for' the purchase of medjcine •
for the dispensary run by the Mission
for the Backward Classes. •"

PRIZE DAY OF SIR TASHI NAMGYAL
HIGH SCHOOL

Gangto';, April 8
The annual prize distribution day of
Sir T. Natngyal High School, Gangtok
was oelebrated on April (i. The function
was presided over by Sri J. S Lall, t c s.,
Dewan, Sikkim State. The gu 'St amongst
others, included Sri B K. Kapnr. the
Political Oflicer in Sikkim, .Maharaj
Kumar P. T Namgyal and Kumarani,
Maharaj Kumar J. T. Namgayal, Kumar
and Shrimati J. Dorji of Bhutan Sri
N. K. Bustomjee, i.c.s., Dewan rleaignate
of Sikkim, Mr. Justice M. P. Aslhana,
Executive Councillors and other high
ranking officials and non.officials. After
a few interesting items of sports, dis-
plays and folk-dances, the Head Master
Sri K. L. Kapur read "his annual report.
He dwelt on the all round improve-
ments made in the institution during
the year under report.

Sri K. R. Pradhan, Executive Coun-
cillor-in-charge of Education in a brief
speech said that all the improvements
mentioned in the Head Master's report
were due to the keen interest taken
by the Dewan Sikkim State. He hoped
that, inspite of the portfolio of Educa-
tion being a transferred subject, the
new-Dewan will take as keen interest
as was taken by his predecessor in the
spread of education in Sikkim and in
the improvements of the premier educa-
tional institution in Sikkim,
