TROPHY DEBATE

The Inter-Collegiate De-
bate organised by the
local Govt College was
held yesterday at this
(Jollegd Hall This being
the first year of the debate
organised^ three Calcutta
Collges, viz Central I ol-
lege,. A-huto.-h College
and St. Xavier'a College,
took part and all thelocal
Colleges, at Darjeeling
joined. The subject of the
Debate was — '"We are
better than our grand-
fathers."
. Shri Saila Kumar Mu
kherjee, (who presided), Sri
A. K. Cianda and Shri
Hi K. Banerjee, Professor,
(.'antral College,' Calcutta,
acted as Judges. Six in-
dividual prizes and two
trophies were distributed
to the winners by Shriinati
Mookerjee. The winners
wer ■• Si. Xavier'a College
and Central College of
Calcutta a:)d the runners
up was St. Paul's College
of Darjeeling.
. At the end of the debate
Shri Saila Kumar Mukher-
jee said a few words of,
encouragement and stated
that in Parliamentary
Democracy a country
needs scholarly debators
for efficient working of
democratic lagislatures and
he congratulated the young
dobators • on their achieve-
ment. .
Applications are invited
from the qualified and
registered medical Licen-
tiates to fill up the post
of one Rural Medical
Officer of Health and one
Kala azar Doctor on tem-
porary basis The appli-
