RAIN FALL IN KALIMPONG

yiTTERS TO THE EDITOR

KAI.IMPONG SPORTS ASSOCIATION

Sir, Your editorial of
Judo 20, is a timely warn-
ing to the sport loving
people of Kalimpo'ng. It
is true that sports are
not organised properly in
this Bub-division.

Few years ago when
'.Kalirapong Sports Asso-
ciation came into existanco,
people felt that this asso-
ciation will step forward
in organising sports. But
this association kept their
activities limited to orga-
nise football matches only,
so the name adopted by
the association was a
misnomer. It should have
been Football Association
or something like that.

Some of the enthusiastic
sportsmen have time and
often requested the mem-
bers of the association to
organise other sports be-
sides football, but the
members were found say-
ing that we can't manage
one thing that is foot-
ball how can we put our
hands in other gam-s.
This is the repjv. wo get
from the members of the
Sports Association, from
this we can visualise the
spirit and interest taken
by the members of the
self-installed committee, in
gpcit9 The n anrgement
of tho football the one
and only game managol

by this committee is very
poor and this can be
proved. Let me give an
instant of the runners up
match of Kaluram Mintri
Memorial Challenge Cup
which was played on 8th
July. The match was
scheduled to start at 4
p m. But upto 4-15 p. m.
not even the goal-net was
fixed. Both the teams
have turned up in time,
but there was no trace
of the umpire At last
some of the school ,boys
managed to get a torned
net and fixed it up any
how and only at 4-30, half
an hour late, the match
started. When the match
was in progress one pig
and one g.iat entered in the
field thrice, there was none
to chase them put. Of
course, for this some credit
goes to our city fathers
also.

It has been often heard
that ihe Committee does
not evi-n favour .the teams
with a form il reply, when-
ever they send any protest
notes or grievances, and the
episode of the disappear-
ance of the ' Homes Club"
a regular entrant in the
foot-ball match, from the
fixture of Satal Sing Me-
morial Tournament due to
the negligence of t h e
Association is well known.

If the present stati-
of affairs is allowed .to
continue I don t think it
will help in any way to
improve the standard, of
the game. - ; ,.•*
' So' I appeal to the sport
loving people of Kalimpong
to come forward and take
an united action to root out
the childish mania of the
present committee m(Hnb>ri>
that their duty is only
to arrange some football
matches any how for self
advertisement, but to orga-
nise other sports.—Yours
etc. "Football Pump"
