TAKING CARE OF THE SICK
a noble PROFESSION

For better health in a Better Bengal,
the role of Nurs"es is In no way less
important than that of the Doctors and
Hospitals. Whether it is for 'taking
care of the sick' or for prevention of
disease or for building better health, Nursing
Is a noble profession of national Importance.

With 8 training schools—6 In Calcutta. I in
Burdwan and I in Darjeeling—run by the State
for the education of Nurses, the scope of
training mora personnel in nursing and mid-
wifery, has considerably increased. Bejoy Chand
Hospital in Burdwan provides a 2-year training
r Auxiliary Nurse-cum-Midwlfe to
meet the demands of qualified nurses and
midwives In the rural areas. Besides these
there are 8 training schools for nurses and
midwives which receive Government aid.

■ It is only a more whole-hearted response and
active co-operation of the people that can make
the efforts for better health successful.
