TIME'S CYCLE

Age marches on with Time's relentless fire
Charring every wanton unfulfilled desire,
Year after year begins
As Time's cycle spins

The wheel of life in one consuming pyre.

The bells ring out the old, ring in the new,
T)ays follow days and years run through,
Clocks and calendars move fast
| The present time is past,

> Tim9 races on in faith and hope anew.

BY BASIL P. NORTON

Apollo drives his chariot round the sun
Shooting out his days while on the run
Then Aphrodite
Begins the night

In starry nakedness and lights of fun.

Kaoh day begins the boisterous toil of man
Another day rolls up his shortening fpaD,
But days soon turn to years
Of joy and tears

Till by the riverside he rests with Pan.

Birth brings into the world a helpless child j

Suckling its mother's breast, cooing mild, > j

When youth advanoeb soon \ <

Shooting at the moon - ! \

Racing into life impetuously wild. \ |

Nature feeds the growth of living things.
Procreates "ithe species on Time's wings,
Love sprouts and prances
In mating dances

Till marriage another generation brings.
