AGRICULTURAL EXHIBITION AT
GORUBATHAN

Gorubathan Exhibi-
tion at Sombaria hat, un-
der the Upper Fagu tea
estates' Hat area, comes
on the 28th, 29th, and
30th, of January 1956,
with grand pomp and
pleasure.
For the last two years
the exhibition, aided by
the Govt, of West Bengal,
in the department of Agri-
culture and the generous
donation of the public
were undoubtly a success.
During 1954-55, the Exhi-
bition Committee raised a
fund of Rs. 1480/15/9 and
spent Rs. 1379/7/- leaving
a balance of Rs. 101,8/9
for the year 1955-66.
In the past the ex-
hibition had its show on
Agriculture, Industries,
Education, Health and
Sanitation only. This year
Cattle and Poultry show
also, have been added.
The visitors coming
to witness the exhibition
will have to turn to the
left from Dam-Dim Junc-
tion and proceed seven
miles further towards
the North. The D. C.
Jalpaiguri and the D. C.
Darjeeling have been re-
quested to grant permis-
sion to run public buses
during the occasion for
the convenience of the
visitors.
The topography; on
the North are Ambeok
T. E., Dalim Khasmahal
Bustee and the remnents
of the famous Dalim Fort
with five . lakes on . the
top of the hill, known as
PANCH POHKHARI.
The Dalim Fort is said
to have been built by -
the Bhutanese, about
a century ago, when they
fought against the British.
Further North is the famous
Lava forest about 7,000''
high forming a panorama
with another hill known as
"Rachala" which is on
an altitude of 9,000 feet
defining the boundry of
India, Bhutan and Tibet.
