Under the auspices of
the Rangli Rangliot N.E.S.
Block an Agrioultural-
Industrial-Health Exhibi-
tiou was held for the firat
time at Takdah from 10th
to 12th March '56. Shri
L>. 0. Mukherjee, S. D. 0.
Darjeeling Sadar opened
the Exhibition in presence
of a large i.umber of looal
villagers, prominent peo-
ple and officials. There
were several interesting
sections in the Exhibition,
such as Agriculture, Live-
stock, Veterinary, Medical
and Publio Health. Publi
oity and Bee-keeping,
IVUhila Samiti and N.E.S.
Block-section. Sports and
Baby Show were also
held on the 11th and 12th
March respectively. Every
evening visitors were en-
tertained with folk ^songs
and danceB by the mem-
bers of the Hum-Busty
and Singringtam Social
Education CentreB. Docu-
mentary films were exhi-
bited by the Government
Publioity Department.
Two noted Nepali singers,
Sri Navin Burdewa and
Sri D. S. Gurung, also
pleased the visitors with
their sweet and impressive
songs. The Sangit Sadan,
Darjeeling gave their per-
formance to the great
delight of the local people.

A public meeting of
the China-Bharala Sans
kriti will be held at 3
p. m. on Saturday, the
24 March in the local
Town Hall. Dr Kalidas
Nag will address the meet-
ing. The public are cor-
dially invited to attend
the meeting.

The most interesting
feature in the programme
was the Sports in which
school children and adults
of the Khasmahal Busters
and tea garden* of the
Rangli Rangliot Block
took active part. Doctor
(Miss) Nivedita Sen gave
away the prizes to the
winners On the following
day 54 babies were brought
by their mothers to the
Baby Show. Mrs. T. S.
Gurung distributed prizes
to the best babies as a'so
consolation prizes to all
other babies. Sri R K.
Sen, an 84 year-old inha-
bitant of Takdah presen-
ted prizes and certificates
to the winner-cultivators
for their best products sis
also to those whose arti-
cles of cottage industries
etc were declared to be
the best. The Exhibition
attracted large number of
people from Khasmahal
and tea garden areas of
the Block and also' from
other parts of the district
every day.
13 LACS CHINESE COINS
ARRIVES IN KALIMPONG
Kalimpong, March 15
The Political officer
in Sikkim have permitted
the import of nearly
1,300,000 Chinese Silver
Coins from Tibet, it is
learnt here authoritatively.
These dollars have
already reached Kalim-
pong a few days ago and
a large number of these
coins have been sent to
Caloutta while a small
portion to Bombay.
Import of these coins
is batined by the govern-
ment but the Political
officer has issued some
speoisl permits to a num-
ber of merchants & pub-
lic notaries to import
these coins from Tibet.
The total quantity of
Silver expected to be reco-
verd from these 1,1:00 000
dollars is 1000 bars as
these coins neigh 2} tolas
and areof 88! 50%
fineness.
