INSURANCE CORPORATION

(Continued from page 6)

tion—I refer to all who
compose it from the highest
to the juniormost—work
as a united team, there
is no reason why the
Corporation should not do
well.

Progressive Outlook
To the members of the
public, I would make a
special plea. They are
aware that all policies
iesued by the Corporation
have the guarantee of the
Central Government with
regard to payment Their
interests us regards ulti-
mate payment are thus
100 per cent secure. But
while security is undoub-
tedly an important fac-
tor in judging an insurance
organisation. I have no
doubt the Corporation will
not rest content with
marely offering security
but maintain a progressive
outlook responsive to the
needs of all olasses. The
realisation of this aim
will require, however, a
little time I would plead
with the publio far a little
patience and understand-
ing. Integration of a
large number of units into
one is always a difficult
matter, and if during the
short transitional period
the publio experience any
difficulties, I hope they
will be indulgent. The
Corporation will welcome
criticism but at the same

STABILIZATION COMMI-
TTEE MEETS

New Delhi, Sept. 13
The Assam Rail Link
Stabilization Committee at
its third meeting held in
New Delhi recently, con-
sidered the factual infor-
mation compiled by the
North Eastern Railway,
and decided that some
additional information was
necessary before the Com-
mittee could proceed to
the next stage of their
work, which will be the
detailed examination of
all vulnerable points on
the section concerned.

The Committee called
for any additional data
relating to the basins of
the major waterways cros-
sed by the Assam rail
link route, which may be
available with Govertment
organisation like the Cent-
ral Water and Power
Commission, departments
of various State Govern-
ments, the Kiver Research
Institute.

During its second
meeting held earlier bet-
ween August 9 and 11,
the Committee inspected
the whole section between
Kishanganj and Amingaon
and saw the various vul-
nerable points and bridges
damaged by floods during
the last few years, and
also inspected the protec-
tion measures carried out
by the Railway for stabi-
lizing the route. The

Committee subsequently
issued a questionnaire to
individuals and bodies
entrusted in the stabili-
zation of the Assam rail
link route, inviting their
views and suggestions. Any
other persons or organi-
sations interested in get-
ting this questionnaire
can obtain copies on re-
quest from the Chief En-
gineer, North Eastern
Railway, Gorakhpur.

time can surely ask for
understanding and sympa-
thy in dealing with its
numerous problems. An
enormous task has been
undertaken by the Corpo-
ration and its success will
depend as much on its
own efforts as on the
understanding and active
support it gets from the
public.

I would in conclusion
ask them to bear in mind
that when they take in-
surance cover with the
Corporation, they will, in
effect, be contributing to
the success of our' Five
Year Plans. Here is a
lever for purposeful saving
in .the full knowledge that
in helping yourself you
are also helping in build-
ing the country. I would
eay that as a Nation we
have the virtus of thrift
engrained in us We must,
all of us canalise it into
constructive and nation
building channels.
