OFFICIALS' DISCUSSION
ON D. H. RAILWAY
Gorakhpur, March 25
A conference of offi-
cials of the West Bengal
Government, the Railway
Board, and the North
Eastern Railway, held in
Caloutta last weekend,
discussed means to re
dure the heavy loss being
incurred on the Darjee
ling Himalayan Railway
which now forms a part
of the N. E. Railway.

No final deoision was
taken by the conference
to reduce this lass whic*
is estimated to be nearly
Rs 30 lakhs a year. An
official here stated that
closing dnwn of the 0.
H Railway would be a
drastic step, and therefore
efforts would be made to
explore methods to pre-
vent any suoh decision.

The Darjeelinp Hima-
layan Railway which paB
Bes through the hilly ter-
rain from Siliguri to Dar-
jeeling is a marval of
engineering, and this itself
draws large numbers of
tourists from all over the
country and abroad to
Darjeeling.

NEPAL PREMIER'S
WARNING

Kathmandu March 26

Mr. Tauka Prasad
Aoharya, Prime Minister
of Nepal, said on 23rd inst
that he would never allow
anybody to use Nepal as
a base for propaganda or
other activities direoted
against the Chinese ' in
•Tibet or agaiust any other
country.

Commenting on ru-
mours that a group of
■ "Mimang" Tibetan extre-
mists was trying to or-
ganize a cell in Nepal,
he said that he had no
confirmation of the ru-
mour. But he made it
clear that "we shall not
allow anybody & or any
country to use Nepal as
a base for suoh activi-
ties

Aocording to recent
rumours some Mimang
monks, who opposed the
Chinese in Tibet, had
formed a cell in Kath-
mandu to operate against
the Chinese from here.
