KANCHENJUNGA ROAD

Sir, On several ooea-
sioni I have brought to
the notice of our City
Fathers the deplorable
state of our road, the
name of which I believe
is Kanchenjunga Road,
and which is now in dan-
ger of being out off from
the main road owing to
the recent heavy rains.
This road is now heavily
used for vehicular traffic,
many Government offices
«nd a goed number of
private houses being situs-
ted here. In summer the
duet is appalling as the
"road" is now a maBs of
rubble, which, later when
the monsoon arrives in
foroe, will develop into a
quagmire Although this
rtad has been actually
inspected by members of
the Municipality, all of
whom agree to its in ere
dible condition, yet no-
thing happens, and the
oondition merrily deteriora-
tes from day to day..

When we beg for some-
thing to be done for this
road, we are inform.* d
that there is no money
available, and we are
asked for a subscription!
lu this not fantastic vis-
a-vis the faot that we
pay taxes, and have a
right to a road that is,

at least, serviceable ? I
have also pointed out that,
at the abrupt turning of
our road, which is at
right angles to the main
road and is concealed,
some kind of signboard
should be placed to warn
the approaching motorist.
All is apathy; and I can
only hope that, one day,
when the inevitable hap
pens and we are cut off
from the. main road, our
City Fathers may emerge
from their Rip Van
Winkle sleep and render
us the necessary aid !
Yours etc Kazini K, M.

khung.

Modern Science he

preached selflessness for
the good of others and
compassion towards all

delineated some metapby-%
sical aspects of Buddhipm.
The practice of Buddhist
theology involved two
main principles, study and
meditation. Buddhism was
an international religion
practiced by numerically
the largest number of peo

ultimate conclusion reached
by Buddhism was "Truth

Buddhist scriptures in
different languages, could
help Buddhist monks who
