IN KALIMPONG

The Puja season il
o'lining to an end. So
far we had very few vi
■ itors and tourists at this
plaoe. One of the known
reasoni for this is the
restricts n imposed on
the foreigners to stay in
Kalimpong and the other
reaaon is leak of ameni-
ties and facilities for the
visitors. The Railway
concession facilities are
not available for visiting
Kalimpong although it
is avai able for Darjeeling
& Kurseong. The atten-
tion of the railway autho-
rities have been drawn
toward* this several time
and we hop* they will
oonaidsr the matter onoe
again.

Some of the roads in
Munioipal area apeoially
the H. C Mintri Road is
in pitiable condition and
there are numerous pot.
holes on the streets. The
portions damaged on the
road while laying the
telephone cables have
remained unrepaired for
last two years. The num-
ber of ugly shades are
growing, here and there
mostly near the Novelty

Cinema area. We do not
understand what the luoal
Municipality and P.W D.
authorities are doing in
this respect.

from the town as well
as the rural areas wit-
nessed the shows. The
performance of the artists
was highly appreciated
by all.
