Syndicate at Teesta .to
meet the long felt"' want
of traveller!.

Shri M. K. Pradhan,
gave a brief history of
the formation of the Syn-
dicate and the advantag* s
so far extended by it.
He appealed for the co-
operation in taking over
tourist traffic as well. The
Deputy Commissioner was
urged to give due consi-
deration in issuing route-
permits, in order to stop
private operators to carry
on unhealthy competition
Shri Tashi Pempa Hishey
on behalf of t he Syndr-
oate presented to the
Deputy Commissioner a
■mall token for utilising
the same in any welfare
works and the Deputy
Commissioner in his reply
while thanking the Syndi-
cate for their efforts in
improving the motor
transport undertakings
announced that the token
gift would be utilise d for
the Red Cross Sooiety.

The guests were enter-
tained to lunch at Pashoke
Dak Bungalow where Shri
Indrajit Bahadur Singh,

NEW BLANKET WEAVING
PLANT FOR W. BENGAL

Darjeeling, Nov. 9

A plant to weave
blankets with maohine-
spun yarn will be set up
either at Sillguri or at
Kalimpong during the
Third Plan,, it is learnt.
About Rs 2 62,000 will
be spent to establish the
plant and it will be run
on cooperative line. Raw
wool from Rajasthan,
(comparable in quality to
Tibs tan wool) will also
be made available to the
plant.

School and is the first
Nepali to receive this

the Syndicate, Mrs. Tashi
Pempa Hishey and Mrs.

val week at Kalimpong.

EXHIBITION OPENED AT
TOWN HALL
Sri D. C. Mookerjea,
S.D 0 Kalimpong opened
an exhibition at the Town
Hill on 10th inst. The
exhibition ie being orga-
nised to celebrate the Plan
festival week. Speaking
on the ocoasion Sri Moo-
kerjee, described the five
year plan as people's plan
and appealed all to work
hard for implementing the
various sohemes. He also
announced that the electri-
city from Jaldhaka. project
will be available in places
like Pedong and Algarah.
Different departments of
the Govt, and N. B. S.
Blocks are-participating in
the exhibition.
