FRONT

MONDAY:

Indian troops have made
a planned withdrawal from the
major military post of Dauiet
Brg Oldi, which command* the
stategic Kvikoram J'ass in

Ladakh.

In NEFA there was some
exchange of fire "in the vici-
nity of Walong between our
posts and Chinese position."
TUESDAY:

An oliicial spokesman of
the Defence Ministry disclosed
today that "Chinese reinforce-
ments were observed arriving
near Chusul", an important
airstrip in the south-eastern
cornei of Ladakh

In NEFA a party of Chi-
nese were reported to have
intruded into Subansiri Division,
In the ensuing exchange of
fire, the intruders suffered
casualties.
WEDNESDAY :

Chinese troops continued
their menacing build-up near
tbo Chu-aul airstrip. Mr. Neb.-u
has said that Chusul was being
defended well.

Indian troops shelled some
of the Chinese position near
Walong and the intruders fired
back.

THURSDAY:

The highest airstrip in the
world, Chusul, continued to be
in on i hands.

Fighting gallantly, our
Jawans beat back four Chinese
attacks in NEFA- In the on-
counter the Chinese suffered
heavy casualties.
FRIDAY:

Some Chinese tanks were
seen in the vicinity of Chusul
airstrip.

In NEFA Indian troops
shelled Chinese portions near
Zang.

Mr?. l)e»ch, one of the
oldest resident of Kalimpong
donated to National Defence
Fund, the following articles:
One Revolver, Two Wrist Wat-
ches, Silver tea set and plates
(her wedding presents]. She is
81 and bedridden. Handing
over the articles to Sii M. K.
Pradban, she declared that
she is prepared to donate
even her household furniture
for Indian Jawans.

A Coordination Committee
for collection of National De-
fence fund at sub-Divisional level
has been funned at Kalimpong
with Sub Divisional Officer as
it'i President Sri M. K. Pradban
is Secretary, Sri M. F- Gupta
Asst. Secy, and Sri K. C. Ban-
thia Treasurer. There are other
21 members which include the
officials, head of Institutions,
Businessmen and representa-
tives of different parties and
organisations This committee
will look iifter the collection
fur National Defence fund while
the local Anti Chinese Aggression
Committee will continue to
function with other works like,
check the rise in price vigilance
etc.

More funds hare been re-
ceived in the National Defence
Fund. The staff of ; >r. Grahams
Homes have donated two days
salary amounting to Ra I550/<
The Solo Kliumbii Sherpa Asso-
ciation has contributed Rs 505-,

Traders from Bihar & U.P.
have donated 1??. 1278/-. Bara
Singh Lepcha of 13th Mile has
donated Rs. 301/-. The Amdo
Dance Drama Party staged
Dance Drama at Kumuditii
Homes for National Defence
Fund, Altogether the Tibetan
people have collected Rs. 5544/-
The local Durga Puja committee
has collected Rs. 2211/-.
