tangled flowers, the clouds of butterflies, the blossoming
elder trees, and the little clump of poplars, are now, alas !
memories of the past. Depend upon it, Kaulbach, with his
Hamadryads, will have to seek out some other solitude
where they may once more hear alone the gentle rustle of
the trees, and tread upon grass and wild flowers.
