Miss Adeline S. Illingworth, in her pen-drawing
of Westminster Abbey (reproduced on page 273),
achieves a noteworthy success, the craft of line
being admirably delicate and firm. The distribu-
tion of light is effective, the lost details are
suggested with good judgment, and the drawing
as a whole could not well be improved.
EDINBURGH.—There is at present on
view in the rooms of the Royal Scottish
Academy, National Gallery, a collection
of works by Sir Henry Raeburn and
other deceased Scottish painters, and, considering
the great demands that the Glasgow International
has made on the generosity of collectors, it is
