**H"TS aim is to furnish complete information respecting the contents of new books; in the
H case of novels giving the story, plot, characters, etc., and in the case of general works
JL and text-books explaining what each has to tell or teach. Adopting a picturesquely
descriptive method, its reviews bring out strongly all that is charming, attractive, and inter-
esting in the late books, without qualifying opinion.
In the case of all important reviews there is appended a list of books related in theme and
class to the book under review.
