Text. Green ground. C. Christ on the Cross, beardless: cross-nimbus, four
nails, blue loin cloth, blue title on board on the cross. Below His feet a segment
of a circle with double gold frame and blue ground. Between the bands of gold
is Abacuc propheta. In the field is a half-length of the prophet nimbed, with
scroll Operuit celos et gloria eius. R. and L. are similar segments with like
frames and grounds. R. The synagogue in red : her crown falls off to L. She
holds a broken blue reed. A Hand above draws a veil from her head. Lex
petit occasum. L. The Church in pale purple, crowned holds banner and round
red object. Pia gratia surgit ad ortum.
Hab. iii. has decorative initial with two lions.
Zephaniah. Prol. Gold S with yellow ground, containing two peacocks. The one
below has his tail displayed, the other’s is shut.
Text. Fine decorative initial.
Haggai. Initials to prol. and text join : both are decorative. Prol. has dragon and
lion fighting. Text (a ladder-like I surmounted by horned beast’s head) has a nude
man playing a lute.
Zechariah. Prol. has half-length of the prophet, in red, nimbed, with blank scroll, in
excited attitude.
Text. A fine I spreading at top and bottom and middle into three medallions:
gold frames, blue grounds.
a. Top. In front the prophet with scroll; behind him the Four Horses (red, blue,
brown, and nondescript) facing L.
b. Middle. The seven-branched golden candlestick between the two olive trees,
which are mainly in white, with red berries, and of conventional form.
c. Bottom. A crowned king in red with blank scroll rides to R. on an ass: another
ass follows. Bull. pl. x.
Malachi. Prol. Initial in outline only, very beautiful, containing a nude man and
animals.
Text. Also in outline. Below, the prophet nimbed and bearded sits writing on a
blank scroll (supported on a curious desk attached to the seat) looking upward
and pointing to a seated group of five men on R. Above, in a circle, half-length
of Christ bearded, nimbed, with outspread arms.
Job. Prol. Fine decorative initial with ground mainly blue. First leaf of text gone.
