92. Bracton. (G. z. 8 or 9)
Vellum, 12J x 8 J, ff. 274, double columns of 46 and 43 lines to
a page : in two main bands, the first a delicate hand of charter
type, the other a more ordinary book hand. Both of cent. xiii. The
table of contents (in triple columns) is in the second hand. Other
hands occasionally appear.
Calf binding, pr. 3s 6d.

On the page preceding the text is a shield in colour or (yellow)
a feu cheeky of arg. and az.'. an in-escutcheon arg. a lion rampant
gitles: before it a rugged staff bend-wise or. Below in a hand of
cent, xvi early: arma Nicholai Stewarde de hospicio vocat’ le temple.
At the end of the book is (xvi): sum Augustini seneschalli liber.
The shield looks like the work of Robert Stewarde prior of Ely.

The books are not divided.
On f. 274 are copies of four writs. The last of Edward I to Rob. de
Ufford to deliver the temporalities of the see of Dublin to John
de Derington (Darlington) Archbishop (1279-84) 28 ap. 7th year.
There are a certain number of marginal additions. I am not
competent to say whether they are important. The two Lambeth
copies are mentioned but not used in the Rolls edition of Bracton.

Vellum, I2|x 8|, ff. 195, double cols, of 44-45 lines. Cent, xiii
late in a charter hand : by two or three scribes : well written.
