A CIRCULAR DISH, SILVER GILT

'Ik SHIELD of arms of the Portuguese house of De Mello is engraved in the centre,
f \ which consists of three sections of embossed circles, differently decorated. Separat-
4 ing the centre from the wide border is a plain hollow section. On the border, in
J jL relief, are several birds and grotesque figures, one represented as a lion holding
a cross, and another as an ecclesiastic or saint, holding a chalice and a staff, the figures
being interspersed with foliage. The edge is plain and curved and the low foot is plain.

No marks.
