A PAIR OF PLAIN LARGE FLAGONS, SILVER GILT

OF globular form,with a Gothic finial and a cresting, and with dragon handles. The top
of the stem is encircled by Gothic foliage.
Total height, 5 6 cm.
Copies of German flagons of about 1510.

AN OVAL TRAY, SILVER GILT

ENGRAVED in the middle is a bacchanalian subject, with a border ofamorini and foliated
scrolls. The edge is gadrooned.
Marks: the pine-cone of Augsburg, and mb in an oval (N° 501 in Rosenberg’s Der Go/d-
schmiede Merkzeichen, 2nd edition, 1911).
Length, 50 cm.; width 37 cm.
German (Augsburg), early eighteenth century.

FIGURE OF A MAN, PARCEL GILT AND ENAMELLED

THIS is probably the cup of a miners’ guild. The hat is enamelled in black, with a gilt
rim and bow. The figure carries on his shoulder an oval tray containing black enam-
elled minerals. His dagger sheath and pouch and jack-boots are enamelled in black.
The base is partially enamelled with black stones, and the edge is chased with straps
and arabesque work.
Height, 29 cm.
Maker’s mark: tm in a redangle,
Possibly German, seventeenth century.

AN OWL, SILVER GILT

THE owl stands on the trunk of a tree, with a skull and cross-bones applied at each
end. A shield of arms is applied in front of the base, which is sexfoil in shape and is
set with frogs.
Height, 22 cm. 5.
Marks: the mark of Nuremberg and wl in a redangle.
German.
