publishing activity also aster the War, in the leading magazine entitled Listy (Letters).19 In this
perspective, it seems justisied to say that an important seature os the Czech artistic culture is that it
gives answers to the central intellectual and moral questions os its time. And this opinion is still valid
today.
We would like to see the Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Croatian, Lithuanian, Russian, and Polish
artistic circles stimulate one another, create mutual challenges. It was impossible as long as this
chance was eliminated by intentional activity os the governments blocking it with the so-called
cultural excange. I remember a thrilling episode os collaboration with Czechs at the end os the sisties,
which sussered attention at the end os the sixties.
May it be that the dialogue between the artistic circles os our countries becomes morally inspiring,
sincere, and prositable sor the universalist values of culture.
