contrary to the principal object, they formed
it beautiful although it was not their peculiar
part. From whence it comes that Raphael has
sometimes painted as pleating as Correggio, and
with as much truth as Titian. Correggio some-
times almost as well as Raphael, and as true as
Titian; and by turns Titian has designed like
Raphael and pleased like Correggio. This be-
ing therefore in the works of all the three an
event rather rare, I have thought it well to de-
termine their Taste in conformity to their prin-
cipal parts.
