Spillman, Lonbeech, the Priory of Dover. He gives his opinion
of her eticks and schismaticks ; Norton wronging Herballdown
Hospitall, in consequence of the death of Sir Wm. Brent, " chuses ”
Sir Moyle Finch as knight of the countie of Kent. In his letter
of 25 Feb. 1601 the Archbishop urges Sir John Boys as “ the
Steward of my Liberties ... to command the Butchers to
observe their lycences duly ” and not to kill flesh during Lent
except for the sick. The Archbishop’s autograph letter (5 April
1602) is relative to the difficulties between himself and the City
of Canterbury.
The Sole Correspondence that has occurred of this famous Archbishop
—Queen Elizabeth’s Confessor—“ Her little black Husband.”
Whitgift in 1582 granted the licence for Shakespeare’s marriage.

over ” to an elaborate design, a series of nine quatrefoils on
each cover built up with the well-known “ drawer-handle ”
tool within which are four stems with two leaves each, a four-
petalled flower and numerous dots. The spaces between the
quatrefoils, or compartments, are filled with repetitions of the
“ drawer-handle," flower, two-leaved stem, dots and larger
dots, and a very fine Tudor Rose tool repeated twenty-four
times on each cover. A very charming and distinctive
development of the well-known Tulip tool is also impressed
six times on each cover, gilt edges. £50
Unique. A very choice and unrivalled binding in pristine
STATE UNDOUBTEDLY MADE BY CHAS. MeARN, THE KING’S BINDER,
for A member of the Nobility ; possibly for Charles Il’s
favourite, the Duke of Buckingham, Author of the second play
in the volume. There is no similar binding in the British
Museum or the King’s Library at Windsor Castle.
