of the tender is also within
the limits up to which a
Local Government or Local
Administration can sanction
estimates for works (for
limits regarding works see
powers in respect of sanc-
tions to estimates).
This power was conferred about 1878.
Superintending Engineers .
Tenders—up to a maximum of
Rs. 20,000.
Ordinarily the limit is Rs. 10,000,
which was fixed about 1866, but in
the case of specially selected officers
Local Governments were authorized
in 1884 to increase this limit up to-
Rs. 20,000.
Executive Engineers.
Tenders—up to a maximum of
Rs. 5,000.
Ordinarily the limit is Rs. 2,000,
which was fixed about 1860, but in
case of specially selected officers
Local Governments were authorized
in 1892 to increase this limit up to
Rs. 5,000.
