2. The paten (Abb. 2a b), which was recently shown by
Messrs. Sotheby the auctioneers to the Victoria and Albert Museum,
is of gold and measures nearly 18 centimetres in diameter. The work,
as can be seen from the photograph, is extremely crude and the
figure of the Lamb of God does not seem in accordance with those
of the Apostles. The photograph of the back shows the technique
which has been employed clearly enough. There can, I think, be
