The fact that type vi b in Cem. N 500-900 contained no stone vessels is purely fortuitous; for the list
of vessels from all cemeteries (p. 72) shows that stone vessels were as frequent in type vi b as in vi a.
In estimating the frequency, line (e) above giving the total number of graves is to be compared with
line (/) giving the number of bodies in order to get an approximate idea of the preservation. Stone vessels
occur most frequently in types vi a, vi b (see p. 72), and vi e. Type vi d is the most common type in
Cem. N 500-900, but only 7 graves of that type contained stone vessels, although these 7 with their
15 stone vessels presented the very good average of 2-1 vessels to the grave. The paucity of graves
of type vi d containing stone vessels may be due either to some accident like that which affected
type vi b or more probably to the fact that type vi d was the popular type for poorer members of the
community.
When the situation on the map of the graves containing stone vessels is examined, these are scattered
from map ii F 6 to iii CD 2 and D 1.
