Completely plundered. Skull (18) and bones thrown in a pile together near south end of grave.
A mixture from two adult burials of about the same size, sexes undetermined. Mixed with the
plundered bones were remains of medium coarse clothing. Under pot 8 were the lower jaw and a
few other bones of a small animal (goat?), see Figure 148 e. On clearing the pottery there proved
to be remains of a wooden box which had originally surrounded the burials. It was only pre-
served at its NE. corner and only to a height of 5 cm. The sides were 4 cm. thick and at the
corner the east side ran the full length and the end was simply butted against it. No form of
fastening could be discovered. The upper matting is shown on Figure 148 e,f. It was a composite
of four layers, each of single fibers pierced by fine fibers of two strands twisted together. The
bottom layer ran crosswise, the second lengthwise, the third crosswise, and the upper layer,
lengthwise. The four layers were closely pressed together, but it was impossible to determine
how they had been bound to form one thick matting. Edge binding is shown on Figure 148 f.
The under matting was of Type I, lengthwise.
