and the result would probably have been more equal if
the Army House had been more successful in taking balls
from the back-wall. The scores were:

It is very much to be regretted that more interest
was not shown by the school generally in the house-
fives ; there was only a very limited number of spectators.

Characters of foot-ball XY, 1885-86.

Benn et: a smart and steady forward, is very quick
on the ball, follows up closely, and a safe collar.

Dun das: a good three quarter playing the game
with judgement; collars well.

H a s s a 1 I: three quarter fast, backs up and passes
well, plays very unselfishly; a very fair place kick.

Stack: full back, plays an excellent game; safe
and steady throughout; a good place kick.

Darnell: a good and plucky forward, follows up well.

Heid: excellent forward, keeps on the ball and
backs up.

Kickards: half back. Plays with great quickness
and energy. Is rather liable to play oft-side, out-side the
scrimmage. An excellent collar.

Morre 11 I: half-back. Makes up for his want of
strength by quickness in picking up and starting. Pas-
sing good.

Mitchell II: A fast forward, good collar, on
the ball.

Ellis 1: three quarter. Fast and dodges well.
Bather wild passing.

Vincent II: forward. Sticks to the ball throughout.
Collars and passes well.

Sproston: fly three quarter. Fast and dodges
well, passing most judiciously. A quick collar.

Prinsep: A very good forward. Exceedingly last,
