DER NEU ENI! KIMER.

7

Won by inside by 1^ lengths, very good race,
a dead level up to the raft, when inside verged ahead,
and quickening up soon made an advantage of a good
length, which they held till the finish.

Third Heat.

Blackwood
Philip (str.)

Outside.

Atkinson (ii)
Paul

Hawkins
Ashby (str.)

Soon after the start stroke in the inside boat
broke his oar, and throwing it away, jumped into the
river. The remaining three of the crew then proceeded
and all rowed exceedingly well, they soon got well
ahead and kept the lead up to the finish, winning by
two lengths.

Fourth Heat.

Inside. Outside.

Hawthorn's crew Molloy's crew

Splendid race all the way, just above the raft the
outside boat quickened and went ahead, and at once
made for the inside course. The cox of the inside crew
instead of fouling the other boat, which he could have
done in a minute, took his crew into the weeds at the
side just as they were quickening and for the moment
the boat almost stopped, and thus the outside boat got
safely into the inside course and managed to keep
ahead up to the finish—won by 1$ lengths.

Final Heat.
Inside, Outside.
Molloy's crew Philip's crew
