DEE. NEUENHEIMER.

quarter backs. But in the second half the forwards, having
had all the work to do, became dispirited, and consequently
Heidelberg College had the best of matters. Hill and
Hathorn best for Neuenheim.

The teams were :—

Nettesheim.—Eollit (back), Clayton, Leland, Priday, and
Henderson (three-quarter backs\ Newman and Hathorn
(half-backs), Hankey, Hill I, Straghan, Eedfern, Hodges,
Kelly, Maule, and Eanking (forwards).

4th Match, v. Mr. A. B. Cipriani's England XV.

This match was played at Neuenheim on the 4th of
April and resulted in a win for the scratch team by 5 goals
(one dropped) and 6 tries (42 points) to nil.

The tries were scored by McArthur (5), Galloway (2),
Eletcher (2), Mortimer (1), and Gomer-Willianis dropped a
goal. At the start the scratch team tried to play a scrum
game, but finding that they were worsted by the College
forwards at this game, they heeled the ball out and, nearly
every time they got the ball out to the backs, they scored.

Their combination and passing was excellent, while our
backs being minus Clayton and Hathorn played wretchedly.

It is worthy of note that two old Neuenheimers were in
the ranks of the Scratch XV, namely Baby and E. Ranking.

After the match, the teams were entertained by Mr.
Girdlestone at dinner. The Scratch XV. was put up at the
school.

The teams were :—

Mb. Cipriani's XV. was E. Pank (Harlequins), back;
H. Baby (Emmanuel College, Cambridge), McArthur (Old
Leysians), Spicer (Marlborough Nomads), W. Mortimer
(Eichmond), three-quarter backs ; C. E. Eletcher (Marl-
borough Nomads) and Spence (Marlborough Nomads), half-
backs ; T. N. Whittaker (Harlequins), J. N. Hill (Harlequins),
Somer-TVilliams (Trinity College, Cambridge), E. C. Galloway
