DEE NEUENHE1MEE.

The forwards were very well matched, and Heidelberg
showed a distinct improvement in this respect on their last
term's form. The passing, however, was very weak on both
sides, and Newman and Williams scarcely had a chance of
handling the ball throughout the game.

Fleming was distinctly the better of the half-backs and
played a good game throughout. It would be invidious to
draw distinction among the forwards as all of them put in so
much honest hard work, but " screwing," which proved to be
of so much service in the match against Heidelberg College
last term, was conspicuous by its absence. Lee was the best
of the Heidelberg forwards, and Catty at full back was very
safe and kicked well.

The teams were as follows : —

Heidelberg.—Catty I (full back), Taylor, Wright I,
Wright II, and Powell (three-quarters), Wilson and Catty II
(half-backs), Loe, Walkington, Cooper, Lennox, Branson,
Willis, and Ivans (forwards).

Neueuheim.—MeOutchan (full back), Newman, Colville,
Williams, and Brown (three-quarters), Fleming and Jolly
(half-backs), Hill I, Willis I, Hill II, EUiot, Jones I, Jones II,
Pepys, and Stogden (forwards).

against the wind. Cannstatt started the ball and scrumming
the home forwards they heeled out smartly and after a bit of
fine passing Oesterlen scored a try five minutes after the start
near the post. Heineken converted.

Neuenheiin now played up with great dash and play
remained for a long time in the Cannstatt 25, but Oesterlen
afforded relief with a long punt. McOutchan mulled and play
settled down outside the half-way flag. Neueuheim were
soon pressing again and a fine rush by the forwards, headed
by Mr. Hill, brought the ball into the Canstatt 25, and the
forwards heeling from the next scrum the ball was transferred
to Mr. Kent who gained a try far out on the left wing amid
