School House v. Army House.
This match was played on the College ground on June
4th, and ended after a very exciting match in a draw. Jones I
winning the toss sent in Christie and Pfordten to face the
howling of Rayner and Bishop. A bad start was made, but
Howard and O'Flynn I took the score up to 28 and then
Howard was bowled for a useful 11. Jones I then came in
and slashed about to a merry tune. The school's innings
ended in 58, O'Ftynn I being the top scorer with 28 runs.
Bishop and Jewell went in first for the Army House, but no
one seemed able to stand up to Howard's bowling—who was
in grand form—except Warren who made 34 out of the 58.
Thus a most exciting match ended in a draw, as there was no
time for a second innings. For the School House Howard,
Jones I, and O'Elynn batted well and Howard bowled
splendidly. For the Army House, Warren and Rayner
shared the honours in batting and bowling respectively.
