DER NEUENHEIMER.

XXIII

Inter-College Sports.

After the College Sports no more rain fell before
the Saturday on which the Inter-College Sports were
held; consequently the ground was splendid, the only
rather heavy bit being the start for the quarter-mile.
The sports were held on the Neuenheim field this year
the Sports Committee were employed for days before-
hand getting the place rolled and levelled. Athough the
day was perfectly fine, clouds kept passing over and a
pleasant breeze, not sufficient to make running unplea-
sant, kept the competitors cool. During the bright inter-
vals the field presented a very gay • apearance and
crowds of spectators, watched the contest. The issue
was never very doubtful, the Seniors winning with
29 pts to 7 and the Juniors with 18 to 6. Landvoigt
won 6 medals for the Seniors and Maclean 2, for the
Juniors Christie won 4 and Dickie one. Thus both Se-
nior and Junior Shields remain in our posession for yet
another year; up to now the Junior one - has never
left us but the Senior one has been in Heidelberg's
hands for one year. Maclean had the misfortune to over
exert himself and to fall down dead-beat in the mile,
howewer be was not seriously injured by this unfortu-
nate event and was able to receive his prizes and me-
dals afterwards. After the Sports Miss Fenwick presen-
ted the medals and the prizes for the College Sports.

During the contests the Band of the 2. Bad. Gre-
nadier-Reg. Kaiser Wilhelm I Nr. no played a selec-
tion of music.

The Judges were Messrs. Girdlestone and Catty;
Timekeeper, Mr. Hill; and Starter, Mr. Montgomery.
