CONSERVATION WORK AT MAREA

Conservation and restoration of the masonry
structures within the Byzantine bath,
basilica, and the funerary chapel, excavated
by the Polish Archaeological Mission in
Marea, began on 30 August and was
completed on 26 September, 2006. Most of
the work was of an emergency nature and
included securing of the structures in
danger of collapse and protection of the
historic fabric of these structures.
