SACRED PRECINCT OF ALLAT
The sanctuary had been established in the
1st century BC outside the built area of the
time (cf. Gawlikowski 1990), but the
founding of a Roman camp about AD 300
altered the site profoundly, obliterating
many earlier features. The temple of Allat
