EXCAVATIONS IN ALEXANDRIA, 1992-93
by Grzegorz Maj cherek
The mission worked generally throughout the period from
October 1992 to July 1993, whereas proper archaeological
campaign lasted from May the 5^ till July 20 , 1993.
The principal task of this season work was to continue
excavations in the domestic quarter (sector WjN), located east of
R4 street. The Mission undertook also limited archaeological
investigations in the Theatre area (sector M) as well as in the
adjacent portico.
THE DOMESTIC QUARTER
Most of the surface of House G has been already unearthed.
This season work was therefore focused on further exploration of
the western and north-eastern wings of the building.

1 The Polish-Egyptian Restoration and Archaeological mission at
Kom el-Dikka is directed by Dr. Wojciech Kolataj. The archaeological
research team, headed by Dr. Grzegorz Majcherek included: Dr. Jolanta
Mlynarczyk, Miss Elzbieta Kolosowska, Mr. Krzysztof Domzalski -
archaeologists, and Mr. Waldemar Jerke - photographer.
The successful outcome of this campaign would not have been
possible without the friendly assistance of the E.A.O. authorities, to
whom we wish to express our gratitude. We are particularly indebted to
Mrs. Doreya Said, the General Director of the Greaco-Roman Museum
in Alexandria as well as to inspectors: Mr. Ahmad Mousa and Mr. Ala’a
ed-Din Mahrus for their help and cooperation.
