already in Late Antiquity, its bedding, discovered in 1970, was in
fair condition; over the next quarter of a century its state
deteriorated unfortunately. Consequently, the latest pieces of
pottery found in a loose layer filling holes in the mosaic bedding
may be later, accidental intrusions. The best dated is a base of
