kastelli agias . SW. of Khania. The writer heard of ruins
KYriakes here, 1935.

kopra kephala . W. ofPraisos. Spratt, I, 167, saw cisterns and
other remains, and thought it was the temple
of Diktaian Zeus (see Palaikastro). He
heard the natives call the surrounding hills
Rikte. Bursian, II, 571, suggests the ruins
are those of Dragmos. Cf. Halbherr, Anti-
quary, 1892, 213.

kroustogerako . N. of Souia. The writer heard of remains on
the Kastellos above in 1935.

Leopetra ... On the coast W. of Sitia. Spratt, I, 158,
describes insignificant ruins and suggests it
was the ancient Asos.

limnaki . . . W. of Palaiokhora. Spratt, II, 237, suggests it
may have been Biennon. Savignoni, Mo?i.
Ant., 1901, 467, describes the remains.

Logiadhi . . . W. of Liliana. Rend. Line, 1902, 318, men-
tions test-pits with a burnt layer suggesting
cremation.

Monteforte . . SW. of Sitia. Faulkner, Mus. Class. Ant., II,
263, and Pashley on his map, place the
ancient Allaria here.

NEapolis . . . Vase in the Candia Museum, Catalogue, 3263,
from Vagia or Pateteri (said to be from near
Kainourio Khorio, presumably Neapolis).

phrati . . . Burial in coffin at Dryari. Levi, Annuario,
X-XII, 388.

piskokephali . . S. of Sitia. Bosanquet notes brick ruins at
Ellenika on a hill opposite.

psykhion . . . Traditionally W. of Soulia, i.e. Agia Galene.

Pashley, I, 304, heard of ruins at Kastri, S. of
Melampais. A cave on Kavo Melissa is
locally known as the Cave of Daidalos. It
contains no ancient remains. There is a
silver stater of Gortyna from here in the
Candia Museum. The writer heard of ruins
at Treis Petrais to the W.

samaria ... In the Agia Roumeli Gorge. Pashley, II, 85,
268, saw ancient city of ' Ellenais ' an hour
above the village. Rough walls and cisterns.

sammonion . . On Kavo Sidhero (Cape St. Isodore) ruins seen
by Spratt, I, 189. Halbherr, Antiquary,
1891, 202. Mariani, Mon. Ant., VI, 317,
inscriptions at to Bsgveyddi.

sassalos . . . Near Agios Kirkos. The writer heard of re-
mains here in 1935.
