(2) Bone threaders
A small number of bone implements were found which differed from the bone awls only
in having flat rounded ends instead of needle-like points. Some of these had the project-
ing butt rubbed away and pierced so that they were adapted for use as threaders. They
may have served in running the tie strings through the leather skirts and other garments.
These I have classed separately. The unpierced implements of the same form, but usually
with swelling butts like the greater part of the awls, I have called spatulae; but they also
may have been threaders used by tying the string around the swelling butt. In most cases
these implements were found with awls, as if they belonged to the sewing implements.

(4) Broad spatula
One broad spatula of bone was found at K I, which differed entirely in form from the
unpierced threaders.
K I room L = Su 290. Broad spatula, broken in two but complete, 10.8 X 2.6 cm. and a little
over a millimeter thick.
(5) Bone needle (?) (unpierced)
At K I, a small implement of obscure purpose was found. It was a slender curved piece
of bone, 5.7 cm. long, with rounded point and slightly broader flattened butt. The butt
for 9 mm. was blackened. Perhaps a piece used in a game.
K I room Z = Su 208.
