A large town, and very important military station, 25 miles west of the Granges,
and 30 miles east of the Jamna. It is one of the finest stations in Upper India.

No. 19. Ambala, in Salihind (Panjab).

This large station, in the Cis-Satlej division, contains extensive barracks and can-
tonments. It is situated 40 miles distant from the southern foot of the Himalaya, in
a highly cultivated, level plain.
