triangular chair, with a glass of liquor in his hand, and is
turned towards an old fellow, who has his arms round the
woman, both her hands being engaged in holding the child,
which stands by her side ; opposite to this group are two men,
seated on a form, one of whom is smoking, the other filling his

seated on a form, with his back to the spectator, leaning his
elbow on a table, smoking a pipe; another sits in a chair,
resting his hand on the table, in which he holds a long glass
of liquor : the woman is in the act of taking a glass from a
man, who stands by her side scratching his head. Engraved by

a vine growing against it, and a hen-coop attached to the wall:
the figures, which enliven it, consist of two children playing
with a dog ; an old woman opening muscles ; and two children
and a man at the entrance door, looking at her. Dated 1675.

drawing for this picture.
