dress, seated in a handsome apartment, playing on the violon-
cello; while a gentleman, habited in the costume of the period,
stands near her, accompanying the music with his voice.

62. A Woman cleaning Fish. A woman, of a pleasing
countenance, dressed in a dark-coloured jacket and apron, and
a white tippet, standing before the door of her house, with a
knife in one hand and a ssounder in the other. A basket, con-
taining several of the same kind of fish, is on a table, formed of
a board on the top of a cask, placed before her. A dish, with
two haddocks in it, is on a pail in front, and a brass pot hangs
against a wall on her left.
