elegantly attired in white satin, is seated, holding one of the
children on a pedestal, near a vase containing ssowers. The
second child, dressed in a yellow frock, stands by her side. The
gentleman also, richly habited in the elegant costume of the
period, stands near them, with a riding whip in his hand.

dressed in a neglige bordered with fur, seated at the side of a
table, looking round with anxious emotion towards a female
servant, who is presenting her a letter. A lighted candle and a
silver vessel are on the table. Engraved in the Musee Frangais,
by Deguevelliers.

the back, and a glass of wine in his hand. His attention appears
to be excited by something behind him, at which he is looking
round. A tankard stands on the table, and a boy is in the
