239. A Landscape with Figures and Cattle.

240. A Landscape with Cattle and Figures. The scene is
represented under the appearance of a fine summer’s day. On
the fore-ground is a young woman conducting an ass laden with
panniers; she is met by a young man, followed by a dog, who is
driving before him some goats and sheep. A river is on the
right, near which is a man on horseback with cattle ; and a
little way from him is another man, leading a loaded ass.

241. A Landscape, with a View of a lofty Ruin on the left.
On the fore-ground is a woman in a blue dress, riding on an
ass, accompanied by a man on foot, with whom she appears to
be conversing; beyond these are two cows, and two sheep.
On the opposite side are peasants and cattle fording a stream.
The general effect is that of evening. Excellent.

242. A Landscape, with the ruins of an aqueduct in the
middle, and a stream ssowing at its base. On the fore-ground
are a man and a boy driving a kicking ass, laden with panniers;
and farther on, are five cows, two sheep, and a goat, amongst
which is a woman on horseback talking to a herdsman, who
stands near with a long stick in his hand.
