126. A Forest Scene. This capital picture offers a fine
example of the artist’s talents in the delineation of the various
forms which characterise the trunks and branches of trees,
as also in the foliage peculiar to each species; among the
number presented to the eye may be noticed, a group of five
on the left, of singular beauty and variety of tint; these are
opposed against a clear and brilliant sky. The ground
exhibits a marshy soil, intersected with pools overgrown with
