water in the fore-ground, on the bank of which is seated a
peasant with his feet in the water, and a woman is standing by
him with a distaff in her hands; from hence the eye looks to
the ruin of a gateway, beyond which are clusters of trees
growing among rocks. On the left is seen a peasant con-
ducting a mule.
