424. A Sea-Port, represented under the appearance of sun-
rise. The view exhibits, on the right, a fortress and adjacent
buildings; the opposite side is bounded by a mountainous
coast. This picture is further distinguished by some persons
embarking on board a boat in the front-ground. A slight
breeze agitates the waters, whose lucid surface is tinged with
the bright beams of the rising luminary.
1 st. 10 in. by 2ft, ‘lin.—C. (about.}
Sold on commission, by the Writer, to the Hon. George John
Vernon, 1830, 500Z.; at the sale of whose collection, in 1831, it was
sold for 246Z.; again in the collection of Brooke Greville, Esq. 1836,
24lb. Bought by Mr. Seguier.

425. A Landscape, exhibiting a pastoral scene, divided by
a noble river, and composed on the left of a chain of lofty
mountains, extending across one half of the view; a castle
rises from a ravine on their summit, and clusters of bushes
grow along their sides. The right of the picture shows an
open ssat country of an arid appearance, and irrigated by a
winding river. The figures which animate the scene consist
of a herdsman seated on a bank near a lofty tree, in conversa-
tion with a shepherdess sitting near him, with her back to the
spectator; beyond them is a boat with three men in it; three
oxen are close to the water, and a great number of goats
browse along the fore-ground. The effect is that of a fine
serene evening.
