178. A Hawking Party, composed of four ladies, two gen-
tleman, and a dwarf attendant. Among them, and on the
right, may be noticed a gentleman on a restive grey horse,
blowing a horn, at the sound of which a lady on a piebald
horse is galloping towards him, raising at the same time her
hand to her face, and watching the evolutions of a hawk;
behind her are two other ladies mounted, followed by three
dogs, and attended by the dwarf. The remainder of the
party are a little retired on the left, and one of them, riding
a grey horse, is casting up the lure. This picture has become
a little too dark and foxey in tone ; it is otherwise admirably
painted.
