at present in Sulisławice (probably a fragment of a larger Marian cycle from Sandomierz), the
Martyrdom of St Adalbert of 1649 in the monastery of Dominicans in Cracow, The Vision of St
Jacque of 1650 in the post-dominican church in Klimontów. Traditionally, Nuceni is credited also
with the authorship of the Martyrdom of St Andrew, the painting from the dominican monastery
in Cracow, vividly repainted in the 19th century.
It seems that one could ascribe to Antonio Nuceni the painting Annunciation from the church
of Capuchins in Rozwadów, covered with repainting by K. Stokalski of 1830, which up to now
has falsely been regarded as a 19th-century work. The cycle of paintings in the stalls of the
church of Corpus Christi at Kazimierz in Cracow (assigned to Dolabelli) also reveals some
attributes which testify that Nuceni could have been its co-painter.
Researchers related the artistic endeavour of Antonio Nuceni with the person of Tomasz
Dolabelli, and called him "the most talented disciple of Dolabelli". However, it seems that the
painting of Nuceni draws on local guild art and contains many elements of this art’s tradition. The
standard of Nuceni’s paintings is very varied, since he drew on many sources for his inspiration.
In his paintings one can notice some influences of the Polish art of the 15th and 16th centuries
as well as influences of the achievements of Italian painting, which may have been conveyed via
Dolabelli.
In his paintings Nuceni employed the technique of darker oil glaze on the raw colour of
undercoat. He succeeded in rendering the dynamic movement and correct anatomy of figures.
Undoubtedly, he was one of the most talented Polish painters of the first half of the 17th
century.
